Roame is a Blogger / Blogspot theme. Keep an untouched copy of the Roame XML file somewhere safe before you begin.
Back up your current theme
- In Blogger, go to Theme.
- Use Blogger’s backup/download option to save a copy of the theme you are replacing.
- If you have custom HTML widgets or code you may want later, copy those separately too.
Install the XML
- Go to Blogger → Theme.
- Use the theme restore/upload option and select the Roame XML file.
- Wait for Blogger to finish applying the theme, then open the blog in a new tab.
If you want a completely clean installation
A clean installation removes the previous theme code and its old widgets while leaving your Blogger posts and pages untouched. Open the Roame XML in a text editor, copy the entire file, open Blogger → Theme → Edit HTML, remove all existing theme code, paste the complete Roame XML, and save.
First checks
- Open the homepage and one individual post.
- Open the mobile navigation and test the search button.
- Confirm the Header widget, Theme Options, Theme Translations and homepage sections are visible in Blogger → Layout.
- Do not start deleting unfamiliar widgets. Many Roame sections use the widgets already supplied by the template.
