Configuring the Avellin Featured Recipe

Choose whether Avellin’s homepage hero uses the newest post or the newest post from one exact Blogger label.

The large homepage hero is controlled by the Featured Recipe Settings widget in Blogger Layout.

Default configuration

source: recent

label: Featured

Use the newest post

Keep source: recent. Avellin immediately builds the hero from the newest available homepage post card.

Use a specific Blogger label

Change the source to label and enter the exact label name:

Avellin automatically finds the newest published post with that label and uses it as the Featured Recipe.

What the hero uses

The hero can display the post image, title, excerpt and a meaningful category label. Functional labels such as Featured are not used as the displayed category when another content label is available.

Recommended recipe labels

For a featured recipe, a practical label set is Recipe + a food category such as Dinner + Featured. The Recipe label powers Avellin’s recipe behavior, Dinner provides a meaningful category, and Featured can be used to select the post for the hero.
